Fun Facts about Vasco da Gama CoLAB

Who was Vasco da Gama?
Vasco da Gama (1469-1524) was a brilliant sailor and Captain, probably the most relevant sailor during the endeavour of the discoveries. He was the first European to bridge Europe directly to Asia (India, 1498), which is widely considered one of the most important milestones for the beginning of a new era of global communication and trade. VG CoLAB got inspired by Vasco da Gama as it aims to bridge scientific knowledge in technological products and solutions for the progress of the humanity.

About the astrolabe
Abraão Zacuto, a rabbi who had been expelled from Spain in 1492 by the Catholic Kings, was one of the wisemen in the court of the Portuguese King D. João II. He developed a more accurate astrolabe model than the old ones and was one of the drivers of Vasco da Gama's trip to India.
VG CoLAB logo sketches this ancient astrolabe, as an inspiring symbol for driving research in the energy storage field.
